Winter is coming.

JOE

Weather warnings are coming thick and fast these days.

There has been a status yellow wind warning issued for Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Clare and Derry which will see the counties being hit with southerly winds of 55-65 km/hr and gusts of 90 to 100 km/hr which will affect Atlantic coastal fringes of the West and Northwest.

The warning was issued today at 5pm and is valid from Thursday 28 September at 2pm until Friday 29 September at 2pm.

Despite the weather warning for the five counties, Thursday will be dry for the rest of the country with some sunny spells and light to moderate winds which will increase to become strong and gusty during the morning.

The evening will have outbreaks of rain and drizzle but the north and east of the country may stay dry until later in the night

Friday morning will start dry with some nice spells of autumn sunshine but it will become breezy with possible thundery downpours in the west of the country. The rest of the country will be drier with just some scattered showers mixed with spells of sunshine.

The weekend will be unsettled with spells of wet and breezy or even windy weather. Current indications suggest Saturday night will be the wettest and windiest period. Highest temperatures will range from a near normal 15 to 17 degrees celsius, with best values further east.
