So you’re finally buying a car?
What an exciting time. You’ll soon have the power of independence.
It’s going to be great. But remember, with great power comes great responsibly.
In other words, don’t make a balls of it.
Here’s a few guidelines which should set you on the right path.
Looks aren’t everything
Yes, it does have cool furry dice. No, that’s not a good enough reason to buy it.
Keep running costs in mind
It’s a three litre which means it’s quite powerful… which is handy for those three times a year you can afford to fill it.
Take a test drive
You’re going to want to make sure it, you know, works.
Bring someone motor saavy
He’s asking for €1,500… and you’ve offered him €1,500 before even looking at the car. Bring someone who knows their motors to have a look, before you commit to ANYTHING.

Be a clever negotiator
If it’s worth €5, 000, don’t offer them €300. It sounds simple, but low-balling can ruin a good deal. Be clever about it.
Get a vehicle history report
This will make sure that the car you’re buying is the car you think you’re buying.
Don’t forget about insurance
So you’ve a budget of €3,000 and you’ve bought a second hand car for €2,950… you didn’t really think this one through, did you.
So there you have it, seven things to consider before you buy a car. Enjoy your new found freedom!
