Stop. Sip. Sleep.
There’s only a few weeks of summer left, so get out there and enjoy it!
JOE’s plan is to hit the road and go down the country with all our best pals. It’s going to be great… we’ve even put together a cheesy playlist which is sure to be a hit.
If you’re doing something similar, ensure you’re aware of the signs of fatigue and if you do become tired take action to make sure you are safe.
Here are the RSA’s recommendations:
• Stop and park in a safe place.
• Take a Caffeine drink (150mg of Caffeine e.g. 2 cups of coffee).
• Then take a nap for 15 minutes- (set your phone alarm). After the nap, the caffeine should have started to take effect.
• Then get some fresh air and stretch your legs for a few minutes.
International experts also say that alcohol is twice as potent mid afternoon and in the early hours of the morning because we are more likely to be tired at these times.
So people who think they are driving under the legal limit should be aware that even small amounts of alcohol consumed at these key times when we are tired combine to render a driver unfit for driving.
Stay safe guys and remember those three important words: Stop. Sip. Sleep.
