Huge action, two Spielberg classics, and Michael Fassbender getting kicked in the face!
For many of you, this is your first day back in work or school or… just going back outdoors after hibernating over the Christmas break.
Use one of these movies to help soften the blow of acclimatising yourself back into the real world.
MONDAY 7 DECEMBER
Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone – ITV2 – 6.00pm
Where it all began. It is kind of funny to see how far along the special effects, the world building and especially the acting has come when you compare this one to Deathly Hollows. But it also sets us up nicely to get along with all of these lovely people only for them all to get painfully and emotionally ripped away from us in a number of years.
Battle: Los Angeles – Sky One – 9.00pm

(Truth be told, the finished movie isn’t great, but this movie stands out in cinema history as having one of the biggest disparities between trailer quality and movie quality.)
Haywire – Syfy – 9.00pm
Professional fighter and (at the time) non-professional actor Gina Carano is a government agent who must beat up Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum and other famous Hollywood people, because a barely-there plot involving Michael Douglas and Antonio Banderas told her to.
The action is good, including a prolonged foot chase through the streets of Dublin!
Bridge Of Spies – FilmFour – 9.00pm
Spielberg History Lesson, Part One! Tom Hanks and Mark Rylance headline this story of a lawyer attempting to save a US pilot’s life against the backdrop of the building of the Berlin wall.
Schindler’s List – TG4 – 9.30pm
Spielberg History Lesson, Part Two! Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes headline this story of a businessman attempting to save as many Jews as he can from being sentenced to death.
