Here are the 5 best movies on the telly tonight

We’re here to help take the pain of looking for stuff to watch away!

Happy Hump Day!

We’re half way back to the weekend, so why not enjoy a movie to celebrate?

Go to the cinema, maybe? Or watch one of these on the box later:

WEDNESDAY 27 MARCH

The Day After Tomorrow – Syfy – 6.30pm

Disaster sci-fi epic or merely a glimpse into our actual future once global warming finally arrives? Either way, stuff explodes, and that is always fun to watch.

Rock Of Ages – ITV2 – 8.00pm

Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary J. Blige, Malin Akerman, Paul Giamatti, Bryan Cranston, and loads more star in the musical dramedy about a legendary club and the staff there who dream of bigger things.

The Beach – E! Entertainment – 9.00pm

Leo DiCaprio was just 25 when this came out, and was one of the BIG THREE – along with Romeo & Juliet and Titanic – that quickly made him everyone’s favourite actor. The story of the hunt for the ultimate beach, and how that search for the paradise life can quickly go dark, holds up particularly well today in a world where finding somewhere new and isolated has become increasingly difficult.

Shooter – FilmFour – 9.00pm

Mark Wahlberg plays a sniper for the US government who is then made the prime suspect when an assassin tries to kill the President. So not only does he have to clear his own name, he also needs to find the actual bad guy. Directed by the guy behind Training Day and The Equalizer, so you know the action stuff will be decent.

Under Siege – ITV4 – 10.00pm

Steven Seagal’s best movie (only good movie? Discuss), in which he plays the cook on a military ship that gets taken over by Tommy Lee Jones’s over-acting, and it turns out that Seagal isn’t just handy in the kitchen.
