Quiet Monday night in? We can help with that…
In case you missed it over the weekend, there were a lot of new releases in the cinema this week. If you’re a horror fan, there was The Nun, if you’re a crime caper fan, there was American Animals, or if you’re an Irish history fan, there was Black 47.
But if none of those interest you movie lovers into leaving the couch tonight, there are other films on the TV to chose from, starting with…
MONDAY 10 SEPTEMBER
The Imitation Game – Film 4 – 6.45pm
Benedict Cumberbatch Night Part One: here he plays English mathematical genius Alan Turing tries to crack the German Enigma code with help from fellow mathematicians during WWII.
Out For Justice – TCM – 9.00pm
The gruesome murder of a Brooklyn Detective will turn the case into a personal vendetta when the deceased’s best friend (Steven Seagal) and fellow officer will unleash an all-out attack against a psychotic Mafia enforcer’s brutal gang.
Unbroken – Film 4 – 9.00pm
Angelina Jolie directs this incredible true story of Olympian Louis Zamperini (Jack O’Connell) who survives a near-fatal plane crash, spends a harrowing 47 days in a raft with two fellow crewmen (one of which is our own Domhnall Gleeson), before he’s caught by the Japanese navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.
Star Trek Into Darkness – TG4 – 9.30pm
Benedict Cumberbatch Night Part Two: this time as the big space baddie who plans to destroy the Federation from within. Features a giant space ship crashing into downtown future San Francisco, which still looks pretty impressive to this day.
The Devil We Know – RTE One – 11.35pm
A powerful documentary following a group of citizens in West Virginia challenges a powerful corporation to be more environmentally responsible. The movie was only released in US cinemas this year (it missed an Irish cinematic release), but is definitely worth your time.
