Wow. This might be the most random list of movies we’ve had in a while.
In case you didn’t know already, The Predator is in cinemas today, and in case you were interested, you can check out review of it right here:
If you’re sitting in though, here are five VERY DIFFERENT (but all brilliant in their own ways) movies to choose from:
THURSDAY 13 SEPTEMBER
The Devil’s Advocate – TCM – 9.00pm
Keanu Reeves is the up-and-coming hot-shot lawyer, Charlize Theron is his loving wife, and Al Pacino is his new boss who may or may not (re: 100% definitely is) the devil. Quite why he’s taken such an interest in Reeves is for you to figure out.
Starship Troopers – Syfy – 10.00pm
Space bugs want to kill all humans, and only the most 35-year-olds-playing-18-year-old space soldiers can save us. Would you like to know more?
Dredd – Film 4 – 11.10pm
The supremely violent sci-fi action flick that gains some unfair comparison to The Raid, simply by also being set in an apartment block. Deserved better than the box office bomb it went on to become.
Spotlight – RTE Two – 11.15pm
One of the most powerful movies of the last decade, based on the true story of a group of journalists – Rachel McAdams, Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffallo, John Slattery, etc. – who take it upon themselves to bust open the story about abuse within the local Catholic churches.
Joe – Film 4 – 1.00am
We promise we’re not picking this movie because of the title. It stars Nic Cage as a tormented man who hires a 15-year-old boy (Tye Sheridan) for odd jobs and ends up attempting to protect him from his abusive father.
