Here are the 5 best movies on TV this evening

Rory Cashin

Arnie, one-armed men, and one of the greatest scary movies of all time!

We’re halfway to the weekend, and we need ways to fill our evenings.

You could head to the cinema and enjoy one of the great new releases (we review them all right here), or you could sit in and enjoy one of these instead:

WEDNESDAY 27 FEBRUARY

The Last Stand – FilmFour – 9.00pm

Arnie plays a former FBI agent and current aging small town sheriff who finds that a highly dangerous drug dealer has escaped custody and is heading towards his safe and quiet town. Guess he has to take his ass-kicking out of semi-retirement? Co-stars Forest Whitaker, Rodrigo Santoro, Peter Stormare, Luis Guzman and… Johnny Knoxville.

The Rock – ITV4 – 9.00pm

Nic Cage. Sean Connery. Alcatraz. Terrorists holding San Fran to hostage. You know the drill. Just sit back and enjoy!

Prometheus – FilmFour – 11.10pm

The high-IQ prequel to Alien sees Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, and more follow a map into deep space that they believe will bring them face to face with extraterrestrials. But anyone who has ever seen an Alien movie will know that they’re not friendly ETs.

The Fugitive – TCM – 11.20pm

Harrison Ford. Tommy Lee Jones. One-armed man. Dead wife. On the run to prove his innocence. Another drill you should know and enjoy all too well.

Jaws – ITV4 – 11.45pm

Would having a bigger boat have made the outcome any different? How would a bigger boat have helped? I guess if they’d commandeered a battleship, then they might have had a chance, because otherwise… that shark was still gonna be chowing down.
