Here are the 5 best movies on TV tonight

Rory Cashin

Including one of the worst movies of all time, which is still an absolute must-watch.

Happy Wednesday!

We’re almost there, peeps. We’ve reached the mid-way point. The PNR, the point of no return. 50% to the weekend. We can do this!

And to help kill a few more hours until the sweet release of no more work/college/school, then check out one or more of the following:

WEDNESDAY 4 SEPTEMBER

The Lost Boys – Comedy Central – 9pm

Iconic vampire horror with a career-making performance by Kiefer Sutherland. Also has the weird oiled-up muscle-y sax player, which just isn’t something you get very often in movies anymore.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part Two – 9pm

The explosive ending to Katniss’ journey from tribute to rebellion leader is full of all the action we were deprived of in Part One, as well as some hugely impressive actors – Philip Seymour Hoffman, Julianne Moore, Stanley Tucci, Mahershala Ali – elevating it all above the YA origins it came from.

The Specialist – ITV4 – 10pm

Sylvester Stallone is the explosives expert who is hired by Sharon Stone to wipe out an entire drugs cartel that killed her family when she was child. Features perhaps the single worst sex scene in cinema history (how big is that shower?), and James Woods relishing being the baddie so much that he is practically drooling.

The Happening – Syfy – 10pm

Mark Wahlberg is the science teacher (haha) who realises that plants are killing people (hahaha) because they are fed up with all the pollution so they make the population start committing suicide.

His only way to survive is to escape to the countryside (hahahahaha) and hope to outrun the wind (hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha….). One of the worst films ever made. Definitely worth a watch.

Scream 4 – ITV4 – 12.15am

The long-delayed fourquel sees Ghostface return to hack and slash at a new group of 20-something actors and actresses pretending to be teenagers. More funny than scary, but it is great to see the original trio of Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette back together.
