Legitimately one of the best movies of the decade is on the TV later.
It doesn’t look like a nice night to be out, does it?
Nah, best to check some movies out! Maybe go to the cinema? Maybe check out the new Mission: Impossible? We reviewed it and chatted to pretty much everyone involved in it in our latest episode of The Big Reviewski:
Sitting in? Then here you go!
WEDNESDAY 1 AUGUST
Transformers – Sky One – 9.00pm
The first one. The best one. When Shia LaBeouf wasn’t the most punchable actor in Hollywood, and Michael Bay still had a semblance of restraint.
Payback – ITV4 – 9.00pm
Mel Gibson is a gangster who everyone thinks is dead… but he is super not dead! Instead, he goes on a long, violent, and (bizarrely) very funny tale of revenge through the mobster world, exacting vengeance on anyone who gets caught in his way.
Ghost Rider – SyFy – 9.00pm
Hmmm…. this one isn’t very good, but it is a lot of fun, with Nic Cage going full Nic Cage, as the sorta-superhero with a skull made out of flames and a big bike and chain, taking out the bad guys along the way.
Spotlight – RTE One – 9.35pm
One of the best movies of the decade, dealing with the true story about a set of investigative journalists uncovering a massive conspiracy within the Boston church to keep years of abuse secret. Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Mark Ruffalo, Liev Schreiber, John Slattery and more star in the multi-Oscar winner.
Senna – ITV4 – 11.10pm
An incredible documentary dealing with Ayrton Senna, one of the most famous Formula One drivers to have ever lived, going into detail about his very unique life story.
Apocalypto – Film 4 – 12.55am
Mel Gibson again, except this time he stays behind the camera, for his Mayan kingdom-set chase movie, as a man taken as a slave is chased by his captors, but he is racing against time to get back to his pregnant wife who is stuck in a slowly-filling flooded cave.
