Some very decent thrillers and arguably Tarantino’s most fun movie are all in the mix tonight.
Wednesday is a good day to make a movie day.
But what to go see? There are loads of really good releases in the cinema, and we review them all right here.
Or if you’re sitting in, then you can check out one of these instead:
WEDNESDAY 5 FEBRUARY
Training Day – TCM – 9pm
Denzel Washington is the Bad Cop that begins to corrupt his newbie partner Ethan Hawke in this dark police thriller. It is definitely worth (re)watching for Washington’s scene-chewing performance.
Wind River – FilmFour – 9pm
Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen reunite outside of the Marvel Universe for this murder mystery set in the frozen surroundings of a Native American plantation. From the writer of Sicario and Hell Or High Water, definitely worth a watch.
Bad Neighbours – E4 – 9pm
Seth Rogen is the new dad and Zac Efron is the frat house leader, and they are neighbours who are about to go to war with each other.
xXx – Syfy – 10pm
Vin Diesel’s OTHER over-the-top action series never had the budget of the Fast and/or Furious movies, replacing high-octane cars with X-TREME SPORTZING. You can enjoy this if you brain can go beyond the off-switch, and begins to actively regress.
Lone Survivor – FilmFour – 11.10pm
An all-star cast (Mark Wahlberg, Eric Bana, Emile Hirsch, Taylor Kitsch, Ben Foster) feature in this retelling of a true story involving a group of US Navy Seals stuck behind enemy lines in Afghanistan when a secret attack goes sideways.
Inglorious Basterds – ITV4 – 11.15pm
Tarantino’s most entertaining movie? Discuss. Arguably not his very best, but it does still feel like his most rewatchable.
