Here are the 6 best movies on TV today

This is what Sundays were made for.

If you want your Sunday to be more of Funday, then maybe you could check out a movie?

You could head to the cinema and catch a new release (our reviews of Dumbo and everything on the big screen right here), or you could stay couch-bound and chill out to one of these instead:

SUNDAY 31 MARCH

The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring – ITV2 – 6.00pm

The first one. Well, the first first one. Not the first first one, which was actually The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which was the first first one in the way The Phantom Menace was the first first one. No, this is the first first one in the way that A New Hope was the first first one. Or to put it another way, the good first one.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows – TCM – 7.00pm

A very good sequel which made over $540 million at the box office, which only begs the question as to why it is taking so long for a third one to arrive?? Regardless, this finally brings Moriarty into the light, thanks to an amazing turn by Jared Harris, and puts the funny tension between RDJ and Jude Law front and centre.

Phone Booth – Syfy – 8.00pm

Colin Farrell is a thoroughly unlikeable publicist who picks up a ringing public phone, only to be told by the sniper on the other end that if he hangs up, he’ll be shot dead. Soon, most of the downtown Manhattan is shut down as the police, friends, and family all show up to try to figure out what is going on, and why.

That Awkward Moment – Comedy Central – 8.00pm

Zac Efron, Michael B. Jordan, and Miles Teller are three BFFs who all have real problems with commitment, but they all meet three ladies who may be the ones to help them all grow up and answer that awkward question: “So… where is this going?”

Under Siege – ITV4 – 8.50pm

Steven Seagal is a killer chef who has to stop Tommy Lee Jones and his group of madmen terrorists from taking over a warship and bombing mainland America. Or something. The plot doesn’t really matter, it is all about Seagal kicking ass, and TLJ burning a hole in the screen with his OTT performance.

Unstoppable – Syfy – 10.00pm

Denzel Washington and Chris Pine are two train engineers who discover they may be the only two men who can stop an unmanned, out-of-control train, filled with highly dangerous materials, from crashing into a populated area. Almost unbelievable – especially since it is being shown on the Syfy channel! – this is based on a true story!
