There is a pretty decent mix of flicks on the box tonight, if you’re not one for catching up with Love Island, or if you’ve seen all the good movies at your local cinema.

WEDNESDAY 19 JUNE
About Time – FilmFour – 6.40pm
An absolutely lovely rom-com with our own Domhnall Gleeson as a time-traveller who finds that his powers can completely disrupt the happy life he has with his wife Rachel McAdams and their kids. Prepare to laugh, but also prepare to cry. A LOT.
Timecop – Syfy – 9.00pm
JCVD splits his way through time (these are the only two time travel movies on tonight, honest), as a cop who must go several decades into the past to stop a madman from taking over America. A really fun action thriller, arguably Van Damme’s best.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith – FilmFour – 9.00pm
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are secret assassins, who are married to each other, and both ordered to assassinate the other. But what started as a cover to look normal grew into some real feelings. Sexy shoot outs and sexy explosions follow.
The Accountant – RTE One – 9.30pm
Ben Affleck plays a math savant who uncooks the books for a new client, but as the Treasury Department closes in on his activities, the body count starts to rise, because he’s also an assassin (these are the only two assassin movies on tonight, honest). Co-stars Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons, Jon Berenthal, and John Lithgow.
The Purge – FilmFour – 11.20pm
The first of the Purge movies finds us stuck in one house all night, before the sequels took things out to the city. Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey lock their house down to protect their family on the night of the violence, but a group of attackers has targeted them and won’t let up until they get in.
The Last Boy Scout – ITV4 – 11.40pm
The director of True Romance and the writer of Lethal Weapon team up on this violent action thriller in which Bruce Willis plays a private detective investigating the murder of Halle Berry, the girlfriend of a popular American football player.
