Do you like scary movies? Good, because there are a lot of them on tonight…
Happy Halloween!
If you’re not out at the cinema watching this year’s big scary movie (Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep, check our review for it right here), then you’ll probably want to sit in and watch one or more of these:
THURSDAY 31 OCTOBER
Casper – ITV2 – 7pm
In which most young girls found themselves developing a crush on a ghost.
Harry Potter & The Prisoner Of Azkaban – RTE2 – 7pm
The scariest of the Harry Potter movies (and arguably the best of the lot, too), in which we’re introduced to Sirius Black, Dementors, and the young trio mostly having bad hair.
Bruce Almighty – Comedy Central – 9pm
Jim Carrey takes over from Morgan Freeman (aka God) for a little while, to see that it isn’t easy when you’re answering the prayers of billions of people.
The Babadook – Syfy – 9pm
One of the best horror movies of the decade. A grieving mother and her son find themselves tormented by a demon in their home, or both she and her son are sharing a total breakdown following the death of her husband/his father.
Scream – Dave – 10pm
Do you like scary movies? Then you probably love this movie.
Drag Me To Hell – Film4 – 10.45pm
Alison Lohman is put through the ringer as a nice young lady who is cursed by a witch, and finds herself slowly-but-surely being dragged to hell. A scary, gross, ghost-train of a movie.
Halloween III: Season Of The Witch – Horror Channel – 10.55pm
The one where Michael Myers is no longer involved, and they tried to kick off an American Horror Story-style anthology of horror. This one involved secret masks and killer TV signals. It was very weird, but deserves a high five for trying something new.
Ouija: Origin Of Evil – Film4 – 12.45am
The better-than-the-original horror is directed by Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep, Netflix’s The Haunting Of Hill House), where we see how this specific ouija board came to be so evil. Extremely underrated.
The Descent – Horror Channel – 12.50am
A group of female friends go cave-diving, in order to help one of them get over the recent death of her husband, but following a cave-in they find themselves in a dire situation. Especially once they realise they aren’t alone in the caves…
