Netflix continue their cancel spree as American Vandal gets cut after two seasons

Rory Cashin

The critically-acclaimed documentary parody series won’t be getting a third season.

In the last few weeks, we’ve discovered that Netflix have brought Iron Fist and Luke Cage to an end, while the next seasons of House Of Cards and Orange Is The New Black will be their last.

Now we know that the streaming service will also be cutting another show from their line-up, as American Vandal will not be going any further than the already existing two seasons.

The official statement by Netflix reads as follows:

“American Vandal will not return for a third season. We’re very grateful to the creators, writers, cast and crew for bringing their innovative comedy to Netflix, and to the fans and critics who embraced its unique and unconventional humor.”

The first two seasons were huge critical hits – Season One has 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, Season Two has 97% – and has also received some big awards, including a Peabody Award last year.

The folks behind the show had already told Entertainment Weekly that they had ideas for the next season, which fans won’t get to see now:

“The concept for season 3, I will say, is really strong.. I’m really excited. I hope we get to make it.… Nothing’s been presented, but I’ve heard bits and pieces of where they want to take the story, and I’m super-excited about it. Again, it would be very different, which is exciting.”
