Bad news Game of Thrones fans, the next season has been delayed

Not what we wanted to hear…

We’re already suffering from Game of Thrones withdrawals and now we’ve heard that the air date of the new season of Game of Thrones has been pushed back.

The show usually airs around April each year but it will be later in 2017 before we return to Westeros for season seven.

Writers David Benioff and D. B. Weiss revealed that the launch of the show would be later in 2017 rather than the normal April premiere.

“We don’t have an air date yet, but this year will probably be a little bit later,” the pair revealed on the UFC unfiltered podcast.

“We’re starting a bit later because at the end of this season, ‘Winter is here’ – and that means that sunny weather doesn’t really serve our purposes any more.

“So we kind of pushed everything down the line, so we could get some grim grey weather even in the sunnier places that we shoot.”

Winter is officially here, in Game of Thrones that is, and to shoot some grim winter scenes they can’t be going around filming in blazing sunshine.

But then again, a lot of scenes are shot in Ireland, and we don’t know if they’ve noticed yet, but the weather is pretty grim for large portions of the year regardless of season.
