WEDNESDAY 25 JULY
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol – Film 4 – 9.00pm
The fourth one. The one with the Burj Khalifa climb. Not that it matters, cos they’re all great. And the new one, Fallout, is out in cinemas today. Read our long read on the series right here.
The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy – Sky One – 9.00pm
A very weird sci-fi comedy starring Martin Freeman, Mos Def and Sam Rockwell, as the accidental last man alive finds himself travelling across space after Earth with a ragtag group of weird but loveable aliens.
Death Becomes Her – SyFy – 9.00pm
Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn are the two aging starlets who absolutely hate each other, and Bruce Willis is the plastic surgeon torn between them. Oh, and we forgot to mention, they’ve both taken a magic elixir that will make them young and beautiful forever.
Joy – RTE One – 9.35pm
Jennifer Lawrence stars in this sort-of-based-on-a-true-story about a single mother who becomes a powerful business magnate, but along the way there are mops, shopping networks, and Robert DeNiro as an unhelpful father. Also stars Bradley Cooper, Virginia Madsen, Edgar Ramirez, and Isabelle Rossellini.
Full Metal Jacket – ITV4 – 10.00pm
“This is my rifle, this is my gun!”
Blue Is The Warmest Colour – Film 4 – 11.35pm
An incredibly powerful romantic drama about two young women – Lea Seydoux and Adele Exarchopoulos – who form a deep emotional and sexual bond, and the full course of their relationship from friends to intense partners. One of the most beautiful and natural on-screen romances ever made.
