We’ve reached the midpoint of the week.
And believe it or not, it’s the first of July, despite what the rain would have you believe. Alas, rain is rain, and it’s probably going to keep you indoors this evening.
But not to worry, there is at least ONE great movie on TV tonight.
For Your Eyes Only – ITV4 – 8pm
Old-school James Bond starring Roger Moore, which involves a lot of deep-diving and a woman with a crossbow. Man, those films used to be a lot more whimsical.
The Strangers – Syfy – 9pm
Terrifying movie where a couple get terrorised by mask-wearing psychos. Enjoy.
Alien: Covenant – FilmFour – 9pm
Deeply terrifying and disturbing prequel to the Alien films, starring Michael Fassbender as a cyborg living on a seemingly uninhabited island. A new crew of space voyagers show up and things do not go well.
Funny People – Sky Comedy – 9pm
Does what it says on the tin. Stars Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen as attempted comedians.
Dunkirk – RTÉ One – 9.35pm
Christopher Nolan’s tense World War II drama set on the beach of Dunkirk, as English soldiers fight for their lives and wait for rescue. Starring Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, Fionn Whitehead and Mark Rylance. Eight-nominations at the Oscars.
Safe House – ITV4 – 10.35pm
Ryan Reynolds plays a CIA agent tasked with guarding Denzel Washington, who seems to be a criminal, but who’s to say? A decent action flick with a few twists and turns.
