Here are the best movies on TV today

Alan Loughnane

All the best movies are here.

It’s Saturday and it’s a busy day of sporting action. But we realise not all of you are interested in sport.

That’s why we’re here with the movies of the day.

So without further ado, here’s what’s on the box today…

Shrek – ITV2, 4.30pm

The first and best.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 – ITV2, 6.20pm

The second and not the best.

Pete’s Dragon – RTÉ One, 6.35pm

Pete Healy tries to find his friend Elliot, a green dragon, after he disappears from the forest.

Airplane! – Comedy Central, 9pm.

Striker: “Surely you can’t be serious.”

Rumack: “I am serious… and don’t call me Shirley.”

Doctor Strange – RTÉ2, 9pm

One from the Marvel universe. Benedict Cumberbatch discovers magic while trying to fix his hands.

Hidden Figures – Channel 4, 9pm

Three female African-American mathematicians play a pivotal role in astronaut John Glenn’s launch into orbit all the while battling discrimination and racism. Excellent film.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 – E4, 9pm

Jennifer Lawrence is very good in the last film of the series.

Mission Impossible 2 – Sky One, 9pm

Probably the weakest movie of the franchise. Don’t @ me.

Little Fockers – TG4, 9.32pm

Ben Stiller becomes the GodFocker.

American Sniper – UTV, 10.40pm

Bradley Cooper is excellent, no matter what you think about the overall story of the movie.

X-Men: The Last Stand – Channel 4, 11.25pm

Not the best one. But has all the big original cast as mutants fight against “the cure”.

Working Girl – RTÉ One, 11.35pm

A woman gets revenge on her boss. He deserves it.
