Here are the best movies on TV tonight

It’s Sunday.

In a normal year, the movies on tonight might not matter a bit to you because of your other plans for the Bank Holiday weekend.

But alas, 2020 has been a bastard.

Here are the best movies on TV tonight…

The Heat – E4 – 9pm

A buddy cop movie flipped on its head and the result is more than decent.

Goldeneye – ITV4 – 9pm

Pierce Brosnan gives one of his best performances as James Bond to revive what was an ailing franchise at the time.

Bruce Almighty – Comedy Central – 9pm

Morgan Freeman plays God in the role he was born to play and Jim Carrey finds out that having his power is not that easy.

Independence Day: Resurgence – Film4 – 9.40pm

Big budget sequel to the original. 20 years later, the aliens come back and are meaner – or at least as mean – as ever

Loving – BBC Two – 10pm

Ruth Negga stars in this romantic drama you should definitely watch.

Fifty Shades Darker – Channel 5 – 11pm

This is supposed to be an erotic drama but fails at the most basic level because the two leads have zero chemistry.

Get Carter – ITV4 – 11.20pm

Personally, I wouldn’t usually associate Michael Caine with gritty, cold-blooded gangsters but he nails it here.
