The sausage fest continues in Cavan.
Though they can often put viewers off their dinner, extraordinary feats of eating make for compelling television at times.
If you’re one of the many to whom they appeal, then you better make sure to tune into RTÉ’s Big Week On The Farm on Wednesday evening (RTÉ One at 7pm), which features yet another world record attempt featuring sausages in Cavan.
You may already have come across footage of 36-year old Barry Crowe making a mind-boggling 78 sausages within a minute and you can see his fellow county man Taz Smith (who now lives in Fermanagh) taking on an even more difficult challenge on the same show.
We’re sure it’s a record that is frequently tested at breakfast tables throughout Ireland on Sunday morning after a few pints were consumed the night before, but Taz sought to officially write his name in the record books for the most sausages consumed in 60 seconds.
To qualify as a valid record, Taz needed to eat more than eight cooked – but cold – sausages within one minute. The existing record of eight sausages in one minute stands since 2001.
