Happy days folks, Christmas has come early with the launch of the brand new Aertv app.

The much anticipated new iOS TV app will make watching live television even more accessible by streaming all of the broadcast channels together in one place, including both RTE and TV3, without having to subscribe to a pay service.

That’s right, no subscription necessary. That great news means that the app is completely free to download, leaving you with that all-important extra bit of cash in the pocket so that you can buy a Christmas present for that special someone in your life.

In case you didn’t realise, that special someone we’re talking about is JOE obviously. We’ll take a new pair of mauve socks thank you very much.

Online television platforms, such as the Irish Aertv, continue to increase in popularity, with more consumers (including this particular JOE) choosing to access television on their mobile devices while on the go, watching all of your favourite shows when and where you want. Ain’t nobody got no time for pay-TV subscription packages and so opting for cheaper online streaming services such as Aertv is undoubtedly the way forward.

The online TV platform currently offers all of the Irish terrestrial channels for free on its basic package with consumers able to access up to 26 channels including premium channels, such as BBC, on Aertv Plus for €5.99 per month. These packages are now accessible on the iPad and iPhone app with free download from the iTunes store. Magnet broadband customers can also access up to 34 channels, including MTV and Comedy Central, through the new Aertv app.

Aertv is Ireland’s only free alternative to Saorview where viewers in the Republic of Ireland can watch all the Irish channels online for free on their PC, tablet or smartphone.

Philippe Brodeur, director of Aertv said, “We’ve always been committed to providing our users the best value possible in all of our offerings.  Apps have been part of the strategy; it’s what our users really want and we are very excited to be able to deliver on our promise now. With 3,000,000 having been willing to access us on a browser, we think it’s going to blow everything out of the water for us.”

The Aertv app is available to download now in the iTunes store with the Android app coming soon.

Aertv is available to watch online on any device by visiting www.aertv.ie.  It currently streams 17 channels live: RTÉ One, RTÉ Two, TV3, 3e, TG4, RTÉ News Now, RTÉjr, RTÉ one+1, France 24, DCTV, Dail Eireann, Aertv Music, Aertv Movies, Aertv Sports, The Gathering Channel Aertv Live and Unravel Travel.
