The show is now the most successful one in Emmy history.
Jon Snow kicked seven shades of shite out of Ramsay Bolton during the Battle of the Bastards and Game of Thrones has just did that to the rest of competition at the Emmys – ok, the show’s producers didn’t actually beat their competitors to a bloody pulp with their bare fists, but they did dominate the most prestigious awards in TV.
The show won 12 awards including best drama while The Battle of the Bastards won a remarkable seven gongs. To put that into perspective, it’s a record-breaking number of awards for a single episode of television. The record was previously held by E.R.’s pilot “Love’s Labor Lost.” Game of Thrones is also now the most-awarded show in Emmy history, that’s 38 in total.
We’re delighted to see that the remarkably skilled director Miguel Sapochnik picked up the Best Directing for a drama series accolade.
Elsewhere, it was a good night for The People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story which won 9 accolades while Making A Murderer also won in four categories.
