Keep an eye out for this on Wednesday night.

RTÉ have announced that they will broadcast a special all-female episode of Fair City on Wednesday, March 8 to celebrate International Women’s Day.

This is the first time an episode of Fair City will feature all-female character storylines, with the women of Carrigstown ending up at a spontaneous lock-in in McCoy’s pub, where some feuds will be laid to rest, while others will reach new heights.

For Fair City fans interested in more details about the plot *SPOILER ALERT* Niamh is set to finally draw a line under Hayley’s affair with Paul and Carol is left shocked as she finds out it is Hayley who Paul has been playing away with and the real truth is exposed.

Elsewhere, Jane and Orla continue to battle it out over Dermot’s money after it goes missing and all eyes are on Heather when, after sneaking out of the house, she arrives into the pub, carrying the missing handbag.

Debbie and Rose, meanwhile, finally reach a truce and together reminisce about Katy and light a candle in her honour.

Speaking about the all-female Fair City episode, Brigie deCourcy, Executive Producer said: “We’re so excited to air this very special all-female episode on Wednesday night which is a first for an Irish soap.  Strong women have always been at the heart of Fair City, so we decided what better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than putting our Carrigstown ladies out front and centre in their very own episode.

“The programme has been months in the making, planning the storylines well in advance to ensure that all these characters collide on the same day and I really hope the audience at home will enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed creating it.”

The all-female episode is one of a number of items planned by RTÉ to celebrate International Women’s Day this week and you can catch it on RTÉ One on Wednesday at 8pm.
