Five of JOE’s most anticipated films of the summer – Part I

May is here which means it's almost Summer (just agree with us ok?) so here's five of the most-anticipated films of the summer season.

JOE

It’s May 1st today and that means that the summer is slowly but surely making its way towards us, albeit at an absolute crawl.

By Eoghan Doherty

To make the next few long weeks (or this afternoon at least) pass by that little bit quicker, why not join JOE in the trailer park and enjoy the previews for some of this summer’s most-anticipated films.

Star Trek Into Darkness – released May 9

Not a bad way to start the month off. J. J. Abrams’ sequel to the highly-enjoyable 2009 Star Trek revamp is almost here and it looks like Benedict Cumberbatch is going to be an absolutely terrifyingly brilliant bad-guy. Set phasers to IMSOFLIPPINEXCITED.

Fast & Furious 6 – released May 17

Here at JOE we’re big fans of The Rock. And class cars. And sexy ladies. So it’s safe to say that we’re really looking forward to the latest installment of the Fast & Furious series which has The Rock, class cars and sexy ladies in abundance. Check out the new trailer here:

The Hangover Part III – released May 24

The Hangover was hugely popular when released back in 2009 but it’s carbon-copy sequel was disappointingly dull. Here’s hoping the third film in the series will see the Las Vegas-bound lads back to their best and, by the looks of this trailer, it seems as though they’re well on track:

Man of Steel – released 14 June

Kneel Before Zod! Or else just sit down at your computer and enjoy the latest trailer for Man of Steel, the new Superman film starring Henry Cavill as the friendliest of friendly extraterrestrials:

The Wolverine – released 26 July

The premise? A  non-healing Wolverine. Simple as that. Hugh Jackman is back as the hairy adamantium X-Men hero and this time he’s turning Japanese…

The Purge – released 31 May

We know we said five films but one bonus trailer did catch our eye and we reckon you’ve probably got another couple of minutes spare. The Purge probably won’t be anywhere near as big as the other films on this list but it sure looks like it could be a lot of shit-scary fun.
