Drogon might not be on his own.
As always, consider this to be your spoiler alert when it comes to Game of Thrones.

If Cersei does actually end up winning the game of thrones, she’ll be saying a big thank you to Qyburn and Euron Greyjoy after the Scorpion missile downed Rhaegal in the last episode.
Of course, it also helps that Daenerys simply ‘forgot’ about the Greyjoy fleet – that’s what the Game of Thrones showrunner, David Benioff , said about that scene- but as the final two episodes approach, the odds are now disturbingly even as battle for the Iron Throne enters the endgame.
This isn’t the first time though that Euron has proven himself to be useful for Cersei because he previously tracked down the Sand Snakes and had them killed, captured Yara Greyjoy, brought Ellaria Sand to justice, and ferried The Golden Company over to Westeros.
Given the fact that Game of Thrones inspires more wild theories than any other show, plenty of people have been speculating that Euron could still be facing more than one dragon in the final two episodes.
This would explain that look in the trailer for the next episode.

To be honest, we don’t buy that theory – we’ll explain why below – but Pilou Asbaek has been teasing the presence of more than one dragon in the next episode.
As you can see in the caption below, the Danish actor said in an Instagram post: “Gone with the wind….!!!? Maybe…. can’t wait for episode 5….there will be light! And death…. and coffee cups… Oreos…?…you might see a dragon…or two…or none…”
Cheeky.
If it’s true, a surprise dragon would certainly be enough of a factor to shock Euron into making that reaction but we don’t think it’s going to happen and here’s why….
The most likely reason why Euron looks so surprised is that the dragon is going to be sporting some armour. Again, we’ll have to wait and see what happens but after Viserion and Rhaegal were both killed, we think it would be negligent of Dany to not protect her last dragon.
It’s also worth remembering that Drogon was also injured by Bronn in the last season too. How many painful reminders does Daenerys need before she takes action?
There’s also a wild theory Drogon – who disappeared at the end of season four – may have been using that time in exile to lay eggs.
In case you’re wondering, some Maesters in the books think that dragons have a fluid gender, and that they are male or female, “now one and now the other, as changeable as flame,” so it’s possible for them to lay eggs.
While the arrival of some baby dragons would be cool to see, we just don’t see it happening because there’s an awful lot of leaps, ‘what if’s’, and explanation for that theory to work.
To support this ‘baby dragons’ theory, some people have noted that the astroblade at the very start of the credits depicts four dragons.
Basically, they think that another dragon is imminent, however, it’s worth noting that the sigils in each house on the astroblade usually depicts a large part of the narrative.
In this case, the large dragon represents Dany, who is the Mother of Dragons. The shooting star / meteor falling is a signifier of the dragons being born because they were born the “”stars fell”” as it’s described.
Dragons also require a certain degree of magic/sacrifice to hatch.
Introducing something like this at such a late stage would be a massive leap and make very little narrative sense.

In terms of what has Euron so startled, there’s also a more logical possibility and it’s that Daenerys is finally using Drogon to attack from the clouds.
Whenever we’ve seen Dany flying on her dragon, she has been below the clouds and clearly visible.
During the Battle of Winterfell, we saw that dragons can actually fly to great altitudes and soar above the clouds – the Night King realised that – and if Daenerys is looking to burn King’s Landing to the ground, a surprise dive-bombing tactic could be the best way.
The clouds would give her a certain degree of stealth, protection, and cover.
After all, they wouldn’t be able to see where’s she’s attacking from and the element of surprise can be very helpful when you’re fighting an enemy.
We shall wait and see.
Maybe Euron will be fighting Mary Poppins?
