It’s great to see a teacher do something like this.
Get Out is one of the biggest movies of 2017. It grossed 253 million dollars against its 4.5 million dollar budget and received excellent reviews. It was praised for both its excitement as a horror movie, and also its “woke” social commentary.
The movie follows what we initially think is just a normal interracial couple, but before long we find out that their relationship is, in fact, the opposite (SPOILERS ARE COMING). We find out that the family that the couple have gone to visit have been capturing black people for years, and using their bodies to allow their elderly family members to live on, by inserting their brains into the bodies of the young black people.
The movie received such high praise that there was a class started in UCLA in its honour, a “black horror” course. And yesterday, the man that inspired the class, was snuck into the class.
Today we snuck @JordanPeele into a back row while I was screening a scene from Get Out in my #blackhorror class. Then he raised his hand. pic.twitter.com/drXJX5mXcz

Me: "What do you think the director was trying to say about the coveting of black bodies?"

Jordan Peele himself tweeted to say how much he enjoyed taking part in this random act of soundness:
That was fun. https://t.co/OKhrKjGGfN
