Great news for Irish presenter Angela Scanlon as she’s announced as host of The One Show

Paul Moore

Delighted for her.

The star of Meath’s Angela Scanlon continues to rise because she has just been announced as a temporary co-host for BBC’s flagship show, The One Show, alongside Michelle Ackerley and Matt Baker. Scanlon will be filling in for regular host Alex Jones while she’s on maternity leave.

“I’m over the moon to get the chance to present one of my favourite shows on TV and I’m thrilled to be looking after Alex’s spot on the green sofa while she is away. I have always been a massive fan of The One Show and love being part of that wonderful family so I really can’t wait to get started”, Scanlon says.

The Irish presenter will be co-hosting The One Show on Thursdays and Fridays. The incredibly likable presenter first came to prominence with her show Oi Ginger which aired on RTE in 2014.  The success of the show led to a follow up series, Angela Scanlon: Full Frontal, and its successor, Angela Scanlon’s Close Encounters.

In 2015, she landed a role as digital host of BBC One’s The Voice. Shortly after, she co-hosted BBC’s live coverage of T in the Park and most recently fronted BBC Three’s Red Carpet BAFTA Show. All this without mentioning Robot Wars alongside Dara O’Briain.

More recently, she has recently filmed a documentary for BBC Three entitled, Trumps Unlikely Superfans.

Best of luck to her.
