When a member of the Night’s Watch dies, it’s tradition for his brothers to say “And now his watch is ended.”
Well, HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys that it won’t be long before our own watch ends and Game of Thrones officially runs its course.
There has been plenty of speculation since the end of season six that we’d only be getting two more seasons of the show, which Bloys confirmed saying “Believe me, as the new [programming executive] coming in, if I could get them to do more, I would take 10 more seasons. But we take their lead on what they think they can do the best version of the show.”
However, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have strict plans to wrap the show after just two more seasons. On this, Bloys remarked “Yes. They have a very specific plan about the number of seasons they want to do.”
Say it ain’t so. Season seven of the show is scheduled to hit screens in the summer of 2017.
