Ecumenical matters.
When you’re talking about the priests that featured in Father Ted, you’ve got to be very specific.
For example, there are at least four priests that all share the name, Father Windy Shepherd Henderson. One of them works in a parish in Tralee, another works in Wicklow and another accompanied Father Daley to Chicago. Remember him? Contrary to rumour, he wasn’t the first man on the scene when Malcom X was assassinated – that title belongs to Father Burke.
Father Daley had the lump on his head in the shape of Connacht. Truth be told, every single priest that has graced Craggy Island has left us feeling so happy that we could just start dancing.

We absolutely adore every single priest that has featured in Father Ted, which is why we ran this poll to find Ireland’s most beloved Father Ted priests.
We’ve previously ranked our favourite 30 priests – Father Stack got the nod – but 3,000 JOE readers have voted and here are Ireland’s 5 favourite priests in Father Ted.

5) Father Jack Hackett – 9%
4) Father Fintan Stack – 9%
3) Father Noel Furlong – 15%
2) Father Ted Crilly – 16%
1) Father Dougal McGuire – 24%
Truth be told, they’re all amazing. Isn’t that right Father Billy O’Dwyer?
