An incredible action-packed sequel is among the movies on TV tonight

Stephen Porzio

It’s the third entry in a franchise that brought Hollywood action filmmaking to a new level.

It is Thursday, which means sadly, it is not quite the weekend.

However, while you wait for Friday to come, you can watch a movie or two.

Amazon Prime Video recently added 20 big ones to its service.

But if none of those are for you, here are the films on TV this evening.

Licence to Kill – ITV4 – 8pm

Timothy Dalton’s second and final outing as James Bond.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum – Film4 – 9pm

Our pick for tonight is the third installment of the John Wick series, which sees the title hitman – played by an arguably never better Keanu Reeves – on the run from a legion of assassins after a bounty is placed on his head.

John Wick: Chapter 3 significantly ramped up the action, the scale and the stakes of the franchise, resulting in an engrossing, exhilarating and tense sequel.

Belle / A United Kingdom – BBC Four – 9pm / 10.40pm

BBC Four is airing these two acclaimed dramas from British filmmaker Amma Asante back-to-back tonight.

Lethal Weapon 2 – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

Danny Glover and Mel Gibson return in this buddy cop action sequel.

Pet – Horror Xtra – 9pm

In this twisty horror, a woman (Ksenia Solo) is abducted by a stalker (Lost’s Dominic Monaghan) and held captive underneath an animal shelter where her captor works.

Predator 2 – ITV4 – 10.50pm

Another Danny Glover-starring sequel, except this time he faces off with a technologically-advanced extra-terrestrial hunter.

The House of the Devil – Horror Xtra – 10.55pm

This supremely creepy ’80s set horror was the breakthrough film for writer-director Ti West, who helmed this year’s acclaimed slasher X, which was recently added to Prime Video.

Out for Justice – Turner Classic Movies – 11.25pm

Steven Seagal plays a police detective who is out for justice.

White Boy Rick – Film4 – 11.35pm

Matthew McConaughey is among the cast of this 2018 crime drama based on true events about a teenager (Richie Merritt) who becomes an undercover informant for the FBI during the ’80s.
