The station will hit the airwaves between October 6th and October 10th.
‘Upbeat on Air’ is Ireland’s first, digital-only pop-up radio station and is being broadcast to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Week between October 6th and October 10th.
Rick O’Shea of 2FM helped to launch ‘Upbeat on Air’ – which will focus solely on highlighting mental health issues and the importance of managing one’s own mental health.
The station will be on air online from 7am to 10pm for its week-long run and will feature presenters such as Alan Shortt, Teresa Lowe, Alison Canavan, Ruth Scott, Karina Buckley, Shay Byrne, Sinead Desmond and Geri Maye.
“Our aim is to provide 75 hours of quality radio from October 6th-10th and draw attention to the idea that mental health and wellness should be a priority for us all,” said Sarah Surgenor, Communications Manager with St. Patrick’s Mental Health Services.
Paul Gilligan, CEO of St Patrick’s Mental Health Services, added: “Too many people with mental health difficulties are still leaving it too late to seek help or must overcome significant stigma and service limitation barriers when they do decide to take the first step towards recovery.
“The overall aim of Upbeat On Air is to encourage people to seek support and professional advice and deal with mental health issues as early as possible. Upbeat On Air is dedicated to capturing the positive power of music and the importance of listening.”
