It looks like two major characters won’t be appearing in Season Five of Game of Thrones

Don’t worry, they haven’t been killed off… yet.

Don’t worry, they haven’t been killed off… yet.

Game of Thrones fans are going to have to wait an awful long time (probably next April) for the return of the widely popular HBO series, but they’re going to have to wait even longer to see the return of two of the show’s main characters it appears.

Belfast native Kristian Nairn, who plays Hodor and has the hardest task of all the cast members remembering his lines before every episode, revealed in a recent interview with 7 News in Australia that neither he nor Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) will feature in Season Five of the show when it returns next year.

Nairn is currently on tour in Australia with his DJ show Rave of Thrones – basically a Game of Thrones themed dance party – and revealed that Hodor and Bran have been given some time off while the show focuses on other plotlines.

“We [Hodor and Bran] have a season off and we have a year’s hiatus, solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books,” Nairn said.

“So, I get my year off now to do Rave of Thrones and gallivant all over the world.”

If you haven’t watched up to the end of Season Four stop reading now but when we last saw Hodor and Bran they, along with Meera, had travelled north of the wall to meet the three-eyed raven, losing their other companion, Jojen, along the way.

What will become of them next? Unless you’ve read the books, it’s going be quite a while before you find out, isn’t that right Hodor?
