Have we got a little bit of news for you…

Jeremy Clarkson is set to host an episode of Have I Got News For You? in the run-up to the British General Election despite currently being banned from Top Gear for punching an Irish producer.

It is not clear whether Clarkson’s ban extends to other programmes on the BBC, despite the fact that he reportedly called producer Oisín Tymon a “a lazy Irish c**t” in a row over food at a hotel.

The Guardian report that Jimmy Mulville of Have I Got News For You? production company Hat Trick told a meeting, “As far as I’m concerned he is hosting Have I Got News For You in early May.

“The BBC haven’t told me what to do yet. It’ll be an interesting conversation.”

Clarkson has regularly hosted HIGNFY since the departure of Angus Deayton in 2002 – once throwing a pen at Ian Hislop and drawing blood on the satirical news show.
