JOE looks at 10 of our favourite roommate pairings of all time

Paul Moore

We want these lads to be our roommates…

With the college year all set to start back up JOE has been racking our brains to come up with the right formula for the perfect roommate.

We all know how hard it is to find a decent place to live but the most important thing is finding someone who 1) isn’t a weirdo, 2) has similar tastes to you and 3) is easy to live with.

With this in mind we have decided to compile our list of the greatest roommates from TV and film.

Charlie and Frank – It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

In our view these are the greatest roommates of all time because they’re both strangely comfortable sharing the same bed whilst speed balling cat food and huffing glue.

Any roommate that laces your beer with LSD, poops the bed or is willing to enter a same sex marriage with you all in an effort to avoid paying taxes is ok with us.

Dale and Brennan – Step Brothers

Dale Doeback used to think that his house was exclusively for learned doctors before the hillbilly family of  Brennan Huff and his mother Nancy moved in.

The two lads started off as bike-duelling enemies but they quickly bonded over a shared love of cops, velociraptors and Boats ‘n Hoes. We absolutely love this scene.

Leon and Mathilda – Leon

Somehow the brilliant action film about a young orphaned girl who gets taken in and trained by a professional serial killer is quite moving. We always pined for a sequel.

Ted and Dougal – Fr Ted

What else is there to say about the greatest sitcom of all time? We think this clip perfectly sums up the living arrangements between our two favourite priests.

Llloyd and Harry – Dumb and Dumber

We got no food, we got no jobs…our pets’ heads are falling off! On the plus side, the two lads have worms in their living room and they seem to console each other when one falls off the jetway (again), has their heart broken or decides to move to Aspen.

Delta Tau Chi – Animal House

The classic college comedy gets a place on our list because we always wanted to be part of this fraternity. In fairness they have toga parties, are willing to bring a horse into the deans office and they’ve an endless supply of whiskey.

Ed and Shaun – Shaun of the Dead

When the zombie apocalypse happens we want to be living with Ed and Shaun because 1) they still enjoy a good sit down with tea, 2) the lads can hit zombies in the head with vinyl’s and 3) they still manage to get some hungover Cornettos.

E, Vince, Turtle and Johnny Drama – Entourage

Who wouldn’t want to live with the lads from Entourage. Beautiful women, fast cars, exotic locations, good mates, cracking laughs and massive swimming pools. This sounds like JOE’s house actually.

Dennis and Mac – It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

The second roommate duo from the hilarious ‘Always Sunny’ but these lads are very different to Charlie and Frank.

Some golden rules to know if you’re in their apartment are; if your in Dennis’ room then you’re always being filmed while Mac will probably frisk you down to see if you’re a security threat upon entry.

If you look dangerous then be prepared for him to unleash some sweet karate moves on you.

Joey and Chandler – Friends

The perfect roomates for a million reasons.
