Tim ‘The Tool Man Taylor’ could be returning to a screen near you real soon.
Reboots are such a common occurence in Hollywood these days that it’s genuinely hard to get excited about the latest TV show or movie making a comeback.
There are a few notable exceptions, however, and when we heard about one in particular today, it was the source of much giddy anticipation in JOE Towers.
That’s right, 24 years after it first aired on TV, there are murmurings that Home Improvement could be making a comeback.
Speaking to Hollywood Life at a recent event, star of the show Tim Allen said: “This is strange, I am reading with the two boys Zachery Ty Bryan and Jonathan Taylor Thomas on Friday on a idea that they came up with.
“And all of us were joking about, would they be playing themselves, they are playing brothers and the funny thing was actually I pushed the idea, what if it was just the two Taylor boys later in life and I would never be there, Patricia (Richardson) would never be there but it would be them and what would happen. It’s just an interesting idea!”
It certainly is interesting Tim and speaking at the same event, his erstwhile sidekick Al, played by Richard Karn, sounded like he was well up for it too.
“There is always a chance, absolutely! Would I be on board? Yeah I think so!” he said.
So excited are we about a possible reboot that we’re willing to cast aside concerns about a few aging cast members and the relevance of the show to today’s audience because these things always work themselves out, right?
Right?
Anyway, even if it doesn’t, listening to that theme tune never gets old.
