Liam Cunningham says he almost got beheaded while filming Game of Thrones

Considering he’s spent most of his time consorting with Stannis, Melisandre and Jon Snow, it’s a miracle that Ser Davos the Onion Knight is still alive.

The Irish actor who plays him, on the other hand, has revealed that he has faced real life peril while filming the popular fantasy series.

Liam Cunningham has told the Irish Daily Star that he almost got decapitated by a camera while filming the upcoming battle between Stark-loyal forces and the army of Ramsay Bolton, current Warden of the North.

“I nearly got killed by a camera. We were doing this scene where I’m riding past a line of soldiers on horseback, sending them off into battle. So, when they’re sent off, my horse wants to go with the rest of the gang, as all horses do.”

“I had to hold him back, but they brought the camera crane in really close. Luckily, I could see it in my peripheral vision, because my horse jumped sideways- and I narrowly avoided being decapitated.”

The battle scene reportedly took over two weeks to film, and it’s safe to say The Battle of the Bastards is one of the most hotly anticipated Game of Thrones episodes of all time.
