Dennis Lehane is bringing RTÉ’s most successful crime series to the 50th state.

The long awaited American adaptation of Love/Hate will be based in Hawaii.

‘Drug-ridden Oahu’ will be the backdrop as Dennis Lehane – the novelist who wrote Gone, Baby, Gone and Shutter Island – pens the script.

The Hollywood Reporter is calling it “the gritty Hawaii that tourists don’t see,” with Showtime set to broadcast the series.

Love/Hate has been sold to Netflix, Hulu and Amazon in the United States.

The sixth season of the Irish version is in development and will be shown in 2016.
