Tom Vaughan-Lawlor is ready for the character of Nidge to be killed off in the fifth series of Love/Hate, if writer Stuart Carolan deems it necessary.
The actor has played the gangland leader since the show started in 2010, seeing Nidge rise from lieutenant to main man over the course of the show’s run.
However, he said he would just “get over and get on with it” if Carolan decided to kill the show’s main character off.
“You just have to suck it up,” he told the Irish Independent.
“That’s the nature of being an actor and the nature of being in a recurring TV show about gangs, murder and drugs. You get on with it.
“It’s the life of an actor; you are heavily employed one minute and not at all the next. You just roll with the punches,” he said.
The new series of Love/Hate goes into production next week, and will be broadcast later this year.
Next year’s sixth season is expected to be the show’s last.
