A legendary crime thriller is among the movies on TV tonight

Stephen Porzio

It was the first in a series of five films.

Looking to relax tonight after a long day?

If so, may we suggest a movie or two?

Here are what flicks are playing on the TV this Tuesday evening (7 June).

Black Rain – Film4 – 9pm

This incredibly cool ’80s action flick from director Ridley Scott follows two New York cops (Andy Garcia and Michael Douglas) who arrest a Yakuza member (Yūsaku Matsuda) and then must escort him when he’s extradited to Japan.

Exit Wounds – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

Steven Seagal plays a tough police officer in an inner-city precinct who discovers a web of dirty cops and corruption in this 2001 action film.

Rabid – Horror Channel – 9pm

A so-so remake of acclaimed filmmaker David Cronenberg’s ’70s body horror of the same name.

I Am Alfred Hitchcock – Sky Arts – 9pm

This documentary explores the life and career of one of the best directors ever – the “Master of Suspense” Alfred Hitchcock.

Flying Leathernecks – Great! Movies Classic – 10.55pm

Hollywood legend John Wayne stars in this ’50s movie detailing the lives of US Marine Corps aviators during World War II.

Death Wish – ITV4 – 11pm

Another remake, with Bruce Willis this time stepping into Charles Bronson’s shoes as a family man out for revenge.

Dirty Harry – Turner Classic Movies – 11.05pm

Our pick for tonight, this ’70s movie follows tough San Francisco police inspector “Dirty” Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood) as he attempts to track down a psychopath menacing the city.

Drawing loosely from the real-life case of the Zodiac Killer, Dirty Harry’s gritty and thrilling action set-pieces and typically commanding turn from Eastwood inspired four sequels and has led to the original being considered a classic of the crime thriller genre.

What Men Want – Film4 – 11.25pm

Taraji P. Henson stars in this gender-swapped take on the Mel Gibson/Helen Hunt hit fantasy comedy What Women Want.

No One Lives – Horror Channel – 12.55am

In this violent horror-thriller, a gang of ruthless highway killers kidnaps a wealthy couple (one of which is played by Luke Evans) travelling cross country only to discover things are not what they seem.
