02nd Nov 2018

Here are the 8 best movies on TV this Friday night

Dave Hanratty

The first week of November rolls on.

It’s the weekend. Get in.

Weird week though, what with the Bank Holiday and Halloween and all.

If your head is spinning, perhaps a night on the couch in front of the box is in order.

With that in mind, here are eight (8) movies to pick from on this Friday 2 November…

The Goonies – TCM – 7.45pm

A classic.

Think you know it, though? Take our quiz…

Ghost – Universal TV – 9pm

Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore take up clay pottery.

Fast & Furious 6 – E4 – 9pm

Pretty sure this is on TV every night at this stage.

Drugstore Cowboy – TG4 – 9.35pm

Matt Dillion broods about the place in this slow-burning late 80s crime drama.

A Walk Among the Tombstones – RTÉ 2 – 9.45pm

Liam Neeson broods about the place in this quirky and sometimes very dark detective potboiler from a few years back.

Much like the source material, it’s workmanlike stuff but Neeson really makes it shine.

Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans – Virgin Media One – 10pm

Nicolas Cage amped all the way up to 11. You have been warned.

Man on Fire – Film 4 – 10.55pm

Denzel Washington’s absolute greatest performance?

For more, here’s Paul Moore on why the 2004 thriller is such a bloody masterpiece.

Gremlins – RTÉ One – 1am

Don’t feed after midnight and all that, but by all means you can watch them cause havoc.
