An Oscar-winning performance is among the movies on TV tonight

Stephen Porzio

This 2018 music biopic took home four Oscars.

It’s Saturday, which is typically a good day in terms of movies on TV offerings.

Today is no exception.

Here are your choices.

Bohemian Rhapsody – Channel 4 – 9pm

This music biopic tells the story of Freddie Mercury and the British rock band Queen, leading up to their famous 1985 performance at Live Aid.

While Bohemian Rhapsody earned a mixed reception from critics, audiences were a lot kinder to it, with Rami Malek’s performance as Mercury and the movie’s stylish music set-pieces garnering praise.

It wound up earning over $900 million at the box office and took home four Oscars – including Best Actor for Malek.

Meet the Parents – Sky Showcase – 9pm

This very funny comedy about the awkwardness of meeting your girlfriend’s parents boasts a hilarious turn from Robert De Niro.

American Pie – Comedy Central – 9pm

Four teenage boys enter a pact to lose their virginity by prom night in this famously raunchy comedy.

The Equalizer – Film4 – 9pm

Denzel Washington stars in this cinematic update of the classic ’80s spy-thriller series.

Devil – Horror Channel – 9pm

What if you were trapped in a lift with the Devil?

U.S. Marshals – ITV 4 – 9pm

Tommy Lee Jones reprises the character he won an Oscar playing in The Fugitive for this mediocre spin-off.

The Bourne Legacy – RTÉ2 – 9.30pm

The one without Matt Damon.

The Flying Scotsman – TG4 – 10.38pm

Jonny Lee Miller stars in this sports drama about the life of Scottish cyclist Graeme Obree.

Jerry Maguire – Film4 – 11.40pm

“Show me the money!”

The Day the Earth Stood Still – Channel 4 – 11.40pm

Keanu Reeves stars in this critically-panned remake of the classic ’50s sci-fi.

Othello – RTÉ2 – 11.55pm

Laurence Fishburne plays Othello in this ’90s adaptation of the Shakespeare play.

Fright Night – Horror Channel – 12.40am

In this fun ’80s horror from Tom Holland (not that one), a teenager discovers that his next-door neighbor is a vampire.

Last Man Standing – Turner Classic Movies – 12.50am

Bruce Willis stars in this cool remake of Akira Kurosawa’s samurai flick Yojimbo from filmmaker Walter Hill (The Warriors) which transplants the action from 19th century Japan to Prohibition-era Texas.
