Here are the 9 best movies on TV this Sunday

Dave Hanratty

Sunday.

Super Bowl Sunday, don’t you know.

You might well be staying up to watch the Rams and Patriots do battle.

You might have no love whatsoever for American football.

In any event, there’s a rake of movies on the television between now – and even during – then on this Sunday 3 February, so let’s run ’em down, shall we?

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – ITV2 – 6.25pm

In case you missed it on RTÉ during the rugby action yesterday.

Home Alone – Film 4 – 6.55pm

Because it’s not just for Christmas.

22 Jump Street – Comedy Central – 9pm

Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill back at it.

Bad Neighbours – Channel 4 – 9pm

Cool dude Zac Efron upsets Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne when he moves in next door and begins throwing raucous parties. They do their best to fire back with predictably wacky results.

Broken City – E4 – 9pm

Private investigator Mark Wahlberg faces off against New York City mayor Russell Crowe in a movie that stopped just short of being a box office bomb.

Will you show it love on the small screen?

The Ghost – ITV4 – 11pm

Ewan McGregor plays a ghostwriter hired to finish the autobiography of Pierce Brosnan’s former UK Prime Minister, a job he takes on despite some dark omens of what’s to come.

A decent if sometimes silly conspiracy thriller, rather perfect for a Sunday evening.

Last Man Standing – TCM – 11pm

Bruce Willis and Christopher Walken get violent, western-style.

Demolition – Channel 4 – 12.15am

Jake Gyllenhaal literally tears down his life brick by brick and looks to rebuild following the untimely death of his wife in this comedy-drama.

Ruby Sparks – Film 4 – 1am

A novelist conjures up his dream woman who then enters the real world and turns things upside down.
