One of the best action films of the 21st century is among the movies on TV tonight

A breath of fresh air in the genre.

You like movies? You like TV? Well put your hands together, because there’s movies on TV tonight and that can only be a good thing.

This evening is a corker for any horror fans, with a couple of screamy classics on the box. But there’s plenty of other great options if you’re a bit squeamish. Take a look below and take your pick.

Men in Black 3 – FilmFour – 6.55pm

A surprisingly good third entry into the MIB franchise, starring Will Smith as Agent J who has to go back in time and save his partner Agent K, played by Tommy Lee Jones, from assassination.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly – ITV4 – 9pm

Epic spaghetti western starring Clint Eastwood as “the Good”, Lee Van Cleef as “the Bad”, and Eli Wallach as “the ugly”, three gunslingers up against each other to find gold.

Jeepers Creepers – HorrorXtra – 9pm

A very fun horror in the vein of Scream among the movies on TV tonight that stars Gina Philips and Justin Long as two siblings pursued by a murderous truck driver.

A Few Good Men – RTÉ One – 9.35pm

A fresh-faced Tom Cruise stars in this 1992 courtroom drama about two US marines who are court martialled for the murder of their colleague. Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Kiefer Sutherland make up the ensemble cast.

The Raid – Sky Max – 9.45pm

Our pick of the movies on TV tonight is this incredible flick, and arguably one of the best action films of all time. The Indonesian film focuses on an elite squad who is tasked to infiltrate a high-rise building run by a ruthless drug lord in the slums of Jakarta.

Extremely violent, full of tension and absolutely relentless, The Raid has become a cult classic and has been credited with breathing new life into the action genre. It’s balls-to-wall from the start and doesn’t relent until the credits roll – a must watch.

Alone – FilmFour – 11.05pm

An excellent psychological thriller about a woman getting chased through the wilderness by a deranged psychopath. 91% on Rotten Tomatoes says it’s a must-watch.

Love, Marilyn – TG4 – 11.10pm

Documentary about the life and times of the icon Marilyn Monroe, which features dramatic readings of her writings by big Hollywood names and actors such as Elizabeth Banks, Uma Thurman, Paul Giamatti and Viola Davis.

Don’t Breath – FilmFour – 1am

A twisty, terrifying horror about three men who get trapped in a blind man’s house after attempting a break in. It’s a simple premise with some huge payoffs, definitely worth a watch for any horror fans.
