The movie that made Wesley Snipes an action hero icon.
Gallowwalkers – Horror Channel – 9pm
Snipes stars again in this poorly-received direct-to-DVD horror western.
Absolute Power – Turner Classic Movies – 10.45pm
Clint Eastwood directs and stars in this political action thriller about a master jewel thief who witnesses the killing of a woman by Secret Service agents.
I Spit on Your Grave – Horror Channel – 10.50pm
A remake of the controversial ’70s cult horror of the same name.
Misery – Film4 – 11.25pm
Our pick for tonight centers on a famous author (the late James Caan) who is rescued from a car crash by a fan (Kathy Bates, who won an Oscar for her performance).
While at first relieved, the writer soon finds himself a prisoner in his obsessive devotee’s home and forced to indulge his captor’s whims.
Based on a Stephen King novel, Misery is a darkly funny yet horrifying exploration of toxic fandom.
It also features some amazingly claustrophobic direction from Rob Reiner (Stand by Me) and two incredible, multi-layered turns from Bates and Caan.
The Last Stand – Virgin Media One – 12.35am
Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a small town sheriff who must stop a dangerous drug lord from escaping to Mexico in what is one of his better later period movies.
