It’s Wednesday.
The middle of a week that feels about 10 years long.
Yep, there’s still a few sleeps to go until the big day.
For now, we try and escape as best we can.
Here’s the most interesting movie options on the box on Wednesday, 22 December…
The Amazing Spider-Man – ITV2 – 6.20pm
Andrew Garfield gives the Spidey thing a go.
Knight and Day – Film4 – 6.50pm
Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in a sexy spy thriller.
The Matrix – Sky Showcase – 9pm
The new one is out today, so it’s decent timing to revisit the original isn’t it.
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol – Comedy Central – 9pm
Noted side-splitting comedy Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.
Abduction – Virgin Media Two – 9pm
Painfully transparent Bourne knock-off in which Hollywood tried to make Taylor Lautner a viable leading man during the whole Twilight craze. It didn’t work.
Widows – Film4 – 9pm
A far better option comes in the form of our pick of the night – Steve McQueen’s star-studded 2018 heist thriller Widows.
Seriously, just look at the cast for this thing.
Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth Debicki, Cynthia Erivo, Colin Farrell, Liam Neeson, Robert Duvall, Carrie Coon, Daniel Kaluuya, Bryan Tyree Henry, Jacki Weaver, Garrett Dillahunt, Lukas Haas and even a brief appearance from Jon Bernthal.
Frankly, that’s ridiculous.
The plot concerns the fallout from a botched robbery as four Chicago women must now succeed where their late husbands failed – with dangerous consequences and deadly twists thrown into the mix.
Rocky III – ITV4 – 9pm
Whoever programs the ITV schedule is obsessed with the Rocky franchise.
Crazy Rich Asians – BBC One – 10.35pm
Wildly popular romantic comedy with Constance Wu and Henry Golding.
Bad Santa 2 – Virgin Media Two – 11.10pm
That would be the second Bad Santa film, yep.
The Bank Job – Film4 – 11.40pm
Jason Statham plots a daring bank job.
Black Hawk Down – ITV4 – 12.10am
Ridley Scott’s star-studded war epic.
