Your first movies on TV menu for November has arrived!
Now that spooky season is officially over and done with for another year, we can get back to the movies on TV not being completely dominated by horrors! The first list of November’s telly movies are as follows…
Commando – FilmFour – 9pm
Arnie’s most purely fun movie? Discuss.
The World Is Not Enough – ITV4 – 9pm
Pierce Brosnan’s third outing as 007, and it is the third best of his four Bond movies. Pro: Sophie Marceau is incredible as the daughter to an assassinated billionaire. Con: Denise Richards should not be playing a nuclear scientist.
The Grey – FilmFour – 10.50pm
We wrote about this featuring Liam Neeson’s best performance ever when it celebrated its 10 year anniversary. Read all about that right here.
Shakespeare in Love – BBC One – 11.40pm
The film that beat Saving Private Ryan and The Thin Red Line to the Best Picture Oscar that year. It isn’t amazing, but it is a fun rom-com-dram.
Evil Dead II – Legend – 12.50am
Director Sam Raimi goes all out for this iconic horror.
Black Book – FilmFour – 1.05am
Our big pick for tonight is Black Book, a truly brilliant hidden gem set within World War II. Directed by Paul Verhoeven (Basic Instinct, RoboCop), it details the story of Rachel (Carice Van Houten), a Dutch woman who secretly joins the resistance to help bring down the Nazis from within. If you miss it tonight, Black Book is also available to rent on Google Play and Rakuten TV in Ireland and the UK.
Allied – Channel 4 – 2.10am
Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard star in this sexy romantic WWII spy thriller from the director of Cast Away and Back To The Future, and the writer of Peaky Blinders. The end product should’ve been a lot better than this.
