Kick your weekend off with a great movie (or two) on the telly this evening!
Friday is here and it is cold outside, so we fully recommend getting all comfy on the couch and checking out at least one of these movies you can watch on the TV tonight.
The Call – Virgin Media One – 9pm
Halle Berry stars as a 911 operator in this kidnap thriller. It is … absolutely fine.
Shakespeare in Love – BBC Three – 9pm
The period romance drama that beat Saving Private Ryan to Best Picture at the Oscars. Boo.
The Expendables – Sky Max – 9pm
Stallone and Jason Statham and a few others star in this kind of boring action movie.
Sleepers – Legend – 9pm
An all-star cast – Brad Pitt, Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Bacon, loads more – feature in this powerful drama about abuse in a teenage detention centre.
Caddyshack – Comedy Central – 9pm
Chevy Chase and Bill Murray star in somewhat classic golf-related comedy.
Hustlers – FilmFour – 9pm
Our big pick for tonight is Hustlers, an incredibly sexy crime thriller based on a true story! Starring Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Julia Stiles, Cardi B, Lizzo, Keke Palmer and more, it tells the story of a group of exotic dancers who run a con on their most wealthy clientele. It also features one of the greatest character introductions in movie history. If you miss it tonight, Hustlers is also available to rent on Google Play, Rakuten TV and the Sky Store.
Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark – RTE2 – 10.15pm
A very good scary movie about a group of teenage friends who find a haunted notebook that is making spooky tales come to life.
The Woman in Black – Sky Showcase – 10.25pm
Daniel Radcliffe stars in this decent ghost story set in a very isolated mansion.
Hannibal – MTV – 11pm
Under-appreciated in the shadow of The Silence of the Lambs, but this serial killer thriller with Anthony Hopkins, Julianne Moore, Gary Oldman and Ray Liotta is actually very entertaining.
The Nest – BBC Two – 11.05pm
Jude Law and Carrie Coon headline this well reviewed dramatic thriller about a home move gone wrong.
Mean Streets – FilmFour – 11.10pm
Scorsese’s early career crime classic with Robert De Niro and Harvey Keitel.
Christine – Legend – 11.55pm
Horror legend John Carpenter directs this adaptation of horror legend Stephen King’s story about a haunted car.
