Scariest horror ever (according to science) is among the movies on TV tonight

Rory Cashin

The perfect movie to get your in the mood for Spooky Season!

Tonight’s movie options are (1) One of the 19 new additions on Netflix, (2) One of the 52 new additions to Prime Video, or (3) one of the movies on TV below:

The Intern – Comedy Central – 9pm
Anne Hathaway is the young, powerful boss who takes a chance on an older-than-usual new recruit (played by Robert De Niro). An entertaining comedy.

Boiling Point – FilmFour – 9pm
A very good drama, but also arguably one of the most stressful movies ever made.

Under Suspicion – Legend – 9pm
Liam Neeson fronts this erotic thriller with a too-complicated plot. Just watch this one instead:

The Ipcress Film – Virgin Media Four – 9pm
If you’ve ever thought to yourself “I wonder what it would be like if Michael Caine ever got to play James Bond in the 60s?”, well you’re in luck here…

Sinister – Sky Sci-Fi – 9pm

Our pick of the night is Sinister, which was recently named by scientists as the scariest movie ever made. The film tells the story of a struggling writer (Ethan Hawke), who moves his family into a house where a number of murders recently took place, but he doesn’t tell his wife or kids this information. From there, things quickly get very spooky for everyone. If you miss it on the telly tonight, Sinister is also on our list of the 15 best scary movies you can watch on Netflix right now.

The Exorcist – BBC Four – 10.20pm
With the new Exorcist sequel in cinemas this week (check out our review right here), now is probably a good time to go back and check out the 1973 original.

Chi-Raq – AMC – 10.40pm
Spike Lee amasses an incredible cast – Samuel L. Jackson, Wesley Snipes, Teyonah Parris, Nick Cannon, Angela Bassett, John Cusack, Jennifer Hudson – for a very entertaining musical drama about creating a revolution.

xXx: The Next Level – FilmFour – 10.55pm
The action sequel where Ice Cube replaced Vin Diesel as the xXxtreme Sportzzz action hero. It is quite bad.

Ophelia – BBC Four – 1.15am
An okay-ish retelling of Hamlet, but from Ophelia’s perspective. Daisy Ridley takes on the title role, George Mackay is the Danish Prince, and the rest of the cast includes Clive Owen, Naomi Watts and Tom Felton.

The Intruder – Channel 4 – 2.40am
A creepy thriller about young couple who think they’ve just bought their dream home, only to discover the previous owner (Dennis Quaid) isn’t quite ready to give it up.
