Tonight’s movies on TV list also includes one of the very best action movies and one of the very best rom-coms ever made.

Transformers: The Last Knight – FilmFour – 6pm
The fifth and probably worst of the Transformers movie. We recently caught up with the stars and makers of the new-to-cinemas Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, where they discussed setting a future Transformers sequel in Ireland.
London Has Fallen – FilmFour – 9pm
The first sequel from the “Has Fallen” trilogy is definitely the worst of the three. But some of the action is alright.
A Star Is Born – BBC Three – 9pm
Our main pick for the night is this musical drama about an aging rock legend (Bradley Cooper) who crosses paths with an undiscovered talent (Lady Gaga), and the two promptly fall in love. However, as their love grows, her careers skyrockets and his begins to dim.
Cooper also wrote and directed the movie, which went on to become a massive commercial and critical success, filled with some incredible songs (“Shallow” is still impossible to not sing along with) and heartbreaking performances. Lethal Weapon 3 – Comedy Central – 9pm
Mel Gibson and Danny Glover are back to take on … (checks notes) … evil housing developers? How prescient.
The Wedding Planner – RTÉ One – 9.35pm
A likeable enough rom-com with Jennifer Lopez playing the wedding planner, but runs into trouble when she starts to fall in love with the intended groom (Matthew McConaughey).
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back – E4 – 10pm
The first Jack Reacher was brilliant. This sequel was quite terrible.
Anchorman – RTÉ2 – 10pm
“Dorothy Mantooth is a saint!”
Jackass Number Two – Comedy Central Extra – 10pm
Grown men hurt themselves for money. We love it. We also recently caught up with Jackass alumni Steve-O, and he discussed the one stunt that went too far even for them.
John Wick Chapter 3 – Virgin Media One – 10.05pm
Is this the best one? It might be the best one. They’re all pretty great, to be honest.
The Intruder – FilmFour – 10.55pm
When a couple move into their new home, they realise that its previous owner (Dennis Quaid) refuses to let it go. A trashy but enjoyable thriller.
Speed – ITV4 – 11.10pm
Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock star in one of the best action movies ever made.
Beavis and Butthead Do America – Comedy Central – 11.25pm
The feature-length adventures of the much-loved animated duo. Very funny.
When Harry Met Sally – RTÉ One – 11.30pm
Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal star in one of the best rom-coms ever made.
The French Connection – BBC Two – 11.35pm
Another fantastic option, with Gene Hackman as a NYC cop trying to bust a drug cartel. It features one of the greatest car chases in cinema history.
Chopper – Channel 4 – 1am
Eric Bana is hugely impressive as real-life criminal Mark “Chopper” Read, a highly dangerous criminal who wrote his autobiography while in prison.
Thoroughbreds – FilmFour – 1am
Two young women (Olivia Cooke and Anya Taylor-Joy) decide to take out an abusive man in their lives. A very good, darkly comic thriller.
